Done Timely, Issue #002 -- Focus on time management experts first October 24, 2023 |
HelloFocus on time management experts first
Enjoy some overview and get tips for time management by watching videos about time management on YouTube.com. Did you ever look at YouTube for the term time management? You will get approximately 161.000 results. If you only take 3 minutes mean per video, you will have to waste nearly one full year with watching videos without any break, or sleep. Of course that’s a mathematical example, however, reveals how much stuff is present on the web concerning videos only! Videos are a quite targeted selection for this issue compared to the search term “time management” alone (900.000). So it is impossible to get a nearly representative overview within one's life. Even worse, you cannot get usable guidelines for your own work out of this massive information overload. One solution can be, to search for “time management expert”: here you get 1170 results on Google. Anyway too much to study, just to get what you want to improve your work. Any of these experts wants to present his/her findings and ideas. However, what you cannot find out easily from any search engine is, how many of those experts are using their own system or have sufficient experience with the practical application of their system in the real business environment. Therefore, I guess, that many of the promoted systems are mere academic constructs not able to stand up to scrutiny in real life. I guess many valuable contributions to the topic time management stem from people who are not established as time management experts on the market. Mainly the best known systems and methods are published repeatedly and taken as the last conclusion of wisdom. They do not contribute much useful new knowledge. You got it – I say this, because although I think, I am a time management expert, I am still one of the unknown crowds, hopefully publishing valuable contributions to time management. Naturally, although I am using my own system, I cannot state, that this is the best solution for everyone, but for most office workers. Of course it is wise to have a critical look at what the well known experts say(d). Brian Tracy, James Covey, Randy Pausch, just to name some of them. This both will show you, what you really need within your job and provide some valuable tricks and tips you may sum up for your personal way to manage time, or as I say: to organize your tasks. All the best Ronald
